DRAG WITH A.J

 A.J W-O-R-K-I-N-G IT! He's a natural let's be honest.
Well I finally got some attention from him!
Just a small dent to my student budget. Iphone 5. If I'm going to upgrade I might as well get the best thing out there - not like the other competitors are that much cheaper anyway. So I have a phone with a decent camera finally. So you'll probs get more photo updates on here. The photos taken of A.J were from my phone and the quality aint too bad. I'll still take photos from my DSLR but you might get the odd make-up ones from my phone if I cba lugging around my camera.
The cover is from Ohh deer  and they have a whole host of things with illustrations by some amazing illustrators. Guess who illustrated that cover. Yes. You are right.

Hey guys, back with a fun drag look! I've wanted to do a 'proper' drag look for a really long time and A.J happened to of mentioned it this week, so Friday turned into drag night. I did initially use microporous tape but he didn't really need it (not much of a difference) and my ill preparation meant his head was uncomfortable.
It was a bit of a shaky start. I didn't have any references with me so I was just making it up as I went a long. I also felt a bit of pressure because A.J was so looking forward  to it. But in the end I managed to make it work. The lips could of been better - more exaggerated or something and I've noticed I've forgotten to add purple shading on his right inner eye. Next time I'll have to pull out all the works!

L.F DOES S/S - SHINY DISCO BALL

I initially started with this as a reference source. Hazy lower lid with the black scattered 'markings'. Soft but with a harsh edge. Not sure, but it inspired me!
Glitter + Chanel  = spring.  Scattered multi glitter across the lids and on the tips of the lashes. So beautiful and dainty.
Standard douche-y webcam shot but this was so much a fun look to do.
KEY PRODUCTS:
LOUISE GRAY FOR TOPSHOP - PEACOCK GLITTER (CIRCLES)
BOBBI BROWN LONG-WEAR GEL EYELINER - BLACK INK
MAC EYE-SHADOW - CORK
REVLON MATTE EYE-SHADOW - VINTAGE LACE
DUO ADHESIVE
MAC PRO SCULPTING CREAM - PURE SCULPTURE
SLEEK EAU LA LA LINER - NOIR
MAC MSF - LIGHTSCAPADE
DAINTY DOLL LIPSTICK - COUTURE

Hey guys, so I'm back with a fun look, yesterday I had a much needed zone out of work and just indulge in playing around with make-up - it's been awhile. It was actually meant to be quite subtle but I kept adding more and more. And I'm totally not a spring girl so I had to do a Gothic style lip.
The eyes were a haze of brown with a heavy black lower lid. I did a quite precise layer first before going in with a MAC 217 dipped into gel eyeliner to do a 'speckle' effect with the tip of the brush to create an almost feathered pattern. Once that was done the glitter came out. Very random placement starting from the lash line and slowly spreading out. The glitter on the lashes was a last minute thing and so easy to do - definitely no need to buy fancy dress lashes when you can DIY it with some craft bits and lash glue. The lips were initially just a bold deep red but to tie in with the eyes I decided to outline them in black. Apparently it looks kind of carnival-y? Or masked ball of some sort. It was fun to do anyway.
Hope you guys like it AND I bought Die Antwoord tickets 3 days ago. So EXCITED to see them in June since they are only touring 3 different venues in the UK.

L.F RAMBLES - HAUL, UNI AND FUTURE

I was walking to uni and this stranger randomly gave me this flower and told me to have a lovely day. I'm not even a flower person but I thought it was pretty sweet and made me smile.
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA FOR H&M GLOVE STRAP HANDBAG
Ah this bag is amazing. Quirky design and I managed to get it half price. Scoreee. Excuse my nails, even though they are hard to ignore.
Adding to my collection of illustration publications. I need more space to keep them all. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.
Uni work:

Animatic of the story I made up. Basically brief is 1 story, 3 different narratives. I've decided to base it on my character Kitty (who has titties) who basically is in love with her owner and to win his heart thinks she needs tits. I know I'm slightly weird. I have to do it in 3 different mediums and 3 different perspectives. So this is Kitty's perspective and I'm doing hers through a stop motion animation.
Here's a test of the the style I want Kitty to be in. Kitty brief blog: http://www.laisum-fung.blogspot.co.uk/
Ahhh this is so GEEKY, but it means a lot to me. If you remember my moan about a god-damn essay early January.... well I got a fricken 1st on that god-damn essay. I mean like massive ironz I do better in an essay than any design work I've slaved a good month over. Funny thing was on the day we were due to collect them all my course mates could get there's back but me. So I got really paranoid I got done for plagiarism or something bad. Anyway towards the end of the day I could finally collect my results and the receptionist was like yeah sorry you and 3 others essays had to be photocopied to be moderated. So I was like OK... got my paper and I was like WTF. Like I suck at essays. I never feel confident about my writing skills so this is like a major boost for me to write my dissertation and say *in a ghetto accent* "you can bullshit your way through girl." While I'm milking this... how the fack did I get like all the 1st categories?!

Hey guys, so this post isn't make-up related at all but I thought I'd share what I've been up to away from doing fun stuff (make-up). I should add 2nd year is going CRAZY fast. I break up in May. WTF. It's March already. So not ready for 3rd year, graduating and real life. My direction is pretty hazy too  - probably *will* pursue make-up professionally, but I enjoy illustration too and still want to somehow be involved with the fashion or fashion publication industry.  I'm not freaking out as much as I was last year.
I also *might* be going to teach in South Korea after graduating like my sister. I kind of passingly suggested it to my good friend Allan thinking he wouldn't want to do it but it's now kind of turned into he really wants to do it and I'm kind of hesitant. It's not necessarily a path I want to go down (teaching) but for general life experience it'd be great. A years a long time too. I like to think I'm independent but I do have a back-up when things turn to shit (parents) but obviously when I'm there I am really on my own. And I hate it when I have doubts in my head because I go into this vicious circle of talking myself into and out of things. Hmm.

FLATMATE MAKEOVER 2

 Before
After!

Hey guys, Here's Katherine again. We had a house party/Katherine's 21st yesterday so I volunteered to do her make-up. She's becoming a bit of make-up guinea pig for me. Nothing too OTT but I wanted it to be a bit more dramatic and intense than previous looks I've done before. I initially went a bit too dark but a good tip is to persevere (you have to on clients) and whip out a duo-chrome/shimmer eye-shadow and press on top to soften it all out. So I ended doing a navy-teal eye and everything else was understated and natural.

PLAY 4

UMA THURMAN BY DAVID LACHAPPELLE FOR INTERVIEW (2007)
Got some 90s Courtney Love/Hole vibe to it. Rustic brown-tinge lips and the purple with orange fade. I like.
My interpretation, as always I usually tend to kind of drift and.... go drag-ish haha! You can see I kept some of the colour scheme but went cray cray with the lashes and brows.
Without the lips and lower false eyelashes - excuse the hair.

Hey guys, a bit of a cheat post but it's new make-up look! I decided to have a break from work and do summat for the blog but I'm always a bit rusty when I don't do 'creative' make-up in awhile - I tend to just do everything at the same time and go all OTT.
Anyway got another presentation to do for this week and I should have a bit of freedom for a week (not really - need to make the finals for everything before the new brief).
See you soon!

INSPIRATIONAL VIDEOS ROUND UP 6 AND RAMBLE

I actually first found out about Jack Teagle through NoBrow. I'm currently a bit obsessed with his work. This comic is my favourite by him, it's great.
For my current uni' project based on a cat character. Pretty happy to find this in the first charity shop I walked in. I ended up sitting in a coffee shop by the window reading this alone... I must of looked so COOL.
Me all 60s. It' pretty much the same as the look I did here, just less dramatic. I had fun but everyone had a more twiggy/Biba-esque look? Which was cool but I felt oddly out of place with my mod/N.Y interpretation. Weird looks in public too but that's OK.
So stunning. The eyeliner with the bare lashes, shimmering skin feature and those crystalised lips. J'adore Dior and Pat McGrath!
Fei Fei Sun rocking Italian Vogue. Yay for being the first ever lone Asian cover star for them too.
Peter Philips created this dark feathery goodness for Chanel. Romantic and Gothic. Yum.
So A/W is over but I'm still a fan for anything dramatic and it's fascinating to hear about Lloyd Simmonds creative process.
Red lips and a flick of eyeliner  = CHANEL.
Music. LOVE this song. I've listened to this so much. Check out Phantogram!

Hey guys, 'proper' make-up soon, I promise! I've not done one of these videos from the pros for awhile so enjoy my list of favourites, recommend me some links too! It's nice to see make-up in motion instead of just prints sometimes. And a small mention to my house mate Tom, because I had no idea he read my blog. Hi Tom!

FLATMATE MAKEOVER

Before
After!
KEY PRODUCTS:
NARS EYE-SHADOW DUO- MISFIT (TEAL)
MAC PAINT POT - ROLLIKIN
SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLERS

Hey guys, here's a makeover I did on my flatmate recently for a night out. I've actually done her make-up before but didn't take any photos last time, so here's her debut. With Katherine I mainly focused on correcting her brows (patch) and evening out redness. Katherine's also got a small amount of lid space, so my best advice is to focus colour towards the lash line and optically create more space by also adding shadow on the lower lash line. To frame the eyes I spent my time curling her eyelashes to compliment her lovely bambi-eqsue eyes.
Hope you guys like this! I'm off to a 60s fancy dress next week so you'll see yet another 60s look from me - love that eras make-up!

L.F RAMBLES - TURNING 21 AND OTHER THINGS

Only recently found this store and they have some really good designs! 100% organic cotton too which is always a bonus. This design makes me laugh - I've already had someone saying they liked my band shirt.... oh dear. IRONZ.
I managed to get this book for £10... amazzzzzing (pages are perfect, only the cover bounding loose). I'm a sucker for fashion photography and the book has all the models I love. The above is my favourite page from the book.
Leather = investment piece. From madre, thank-you! Actually speaking of Dr Martens I've ordered another 1460 boots by them... MY MUM WILL KILL ME WHEN SHE FINDS OUT. I'm into shoes right now. Can't help it. ASOS CODE MADE ME DO IT.
My parents don't usually do surprise presents for me so it was cool to unwrap something this year (usually my mum will get me some things when we're in town together e.g the bag above). Not sure if I've mentioned this but when I got back home for the first time since I started back uni' my parents completely redecorated my room. SO UNNECESSARY. But I'm really grateful, I have a lot more storage space so these ornaments 'jazz' up the cabinets. Mouse-y deers?! I see mouse. Others see deers.
My best friend bought me an extra suprise present. Thank-you! They're Marc by Marc Jacobs earrings and I love them. I don't usually like red/gold jewelry but they seem to go with everything. Subtle and not too label flash. Lipstick is Illmasqua's encounter :)
Mid-way doing my essay. I'm not good with words... I never do terribly but yeah, this photo illustrates my thoughts.
19/01/13
Decided to make a snowman at 1AM. The boys did most of the work because I came out later (I was geeking it = essay). Anyway I look stupidly happy and I'm 5ft 1 ish.... the snowman was HUGE! The boys are 6ft ish.
Most recent. Not shown my face in awhile. Quick make-up update is I've gone back to using powder for the brows. My dislike for them before was they never seemed to last, but no problems now! I use of mix of MAC's omega, brun and concrete. Lipstick is Revlon's black cherry.
 FASHION NOW: 25 YEARS
Love fashion but I'm more interested with the images inside. Lots of editorial images... my favourite.
Lots of DOUCHE-Y posey photos of me, so this is me with nothing before bed. 40 mins walk to uni.... DAMN SHORT LEGS.

Hey guys, I've been preoccupied so just compiling things now! I usually do a birthday post but I didn't really do anything that day (17th). I think it was mid SNOW HELL in Newcastle preventing me from leaving the house anyway...... and you guys know I'm not too big on my own birthdays (hate fuss/attention). BUT I'm 21! How did that happen?!
Anyway slightly off topic but I'm a pescatarian now (third week)! No motives behind it, I just thought I'd challenge myself. And so far I'm enjoying it. Don't really miss meat and I find it restricts your food choice but for the better since it's usually the veggie/seafood options left which is usually more healthier. Maybe try it out if you guys are interested? I found I was just eating meat for the sake of it sometimes and I guess no animals are getting harmed (sorry fishes and other sea creatures..... I LOVE SUSHI to give up the salmon). Apart from that just usual uni' stuff - 2 new briefs and both due in 5 weeks. Oh and start of dissertation. Gimme booze. Anyway speaking of uni' I've finally updated my graphic design blog, so you can see what I actually get up to when you don't hear from me!

PAINT IT

Love the contrast of the stipple brush strokes against the black. Love love love.
The main reference/direction we decided on when consulting E.H about the look she wanted. I love the sort of acrylic paint effect going on - cracked and slightly peeling off with a rustic brown-red through the lips and cheeks. Abstract, but perfect.
I took these while E.H was shooting away, hopefully you can grasp the idea I was going for.
Me at work! So true that you can spot a make-up artist by their hands - always a messy palette.
KEY PRODUCTS:
MUFE FLASH COLOUR PALETTE - BROWN AND SILVER
MAC LIPSTICK - RUSSIAN RED AND CYBER
SNAZAROO FACE PAINT - WHITE

Hey guys, another collaboration with my friend Emily Hewitson (studies fashion design), who I worked with last time here. I had free run on the day but we both agreed on the image above would suit the garment she made. Once I perfected the skin, the white paint was literally a one take only approach - which adds to the 'slapped' on effect. For the rest of the face I went with a bruised bitten lip and a hazy brown eye with silver accents, and finished the look with a strong brow.
Hope you guys like it, and it was a really fun brief to do because I don't often get the chance to these more editorial style looks.

MAKE UP-DATE

It's not the most flattering make-up ever (for photos)! But I have a soft spot for ochre warm brown hazy-ness around my eyes - it's a bit grungey and gives your eyes some definition without resorting to black. Try it out!
Winged eyed= Parisian chic. It's my go to make-up to 'change up' my eyes. Loads of styles to choose from, so change up the width, colour, medium, flick etc.
Recommend me a decent drug store eyeliner! Collection 2000's changed their formula - it's now watery and not opaque black :(
Some days I go down the 'natural looking' route. Obviously I don't quite pull of natural beauty like she does... but play up the skin - you want to look dewy and fresh so ditch powder products and go with liquids/creams. All about the concealer here.
Midweek it's usually the "I NEED LIPSTICK" day. Bold lip and lots of mascara. I like the clumpy look but it's optional. Ditch the eyeliner and eye-shadow, all about the lips!
My personal go to lipstick is still: MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme - Extended Play
BLUSH. Think cherub. Focus just on the cheeks and ditch eye make-up - just use mascara. I usually like to focus on my skin too so throw on some illuminating products on top of the cheekbones and blend blend blend!

Hey guys, so this is a quick post because I've got an essay to finish right now but since I'm starting uni' again next week I thought I'd post some of the looks I do when I go in... which is usually 5 days a week. I thought this might be good for you guys too, if you wanted to change up your routine - so there's 5 looks (I don't wear anything on weekends) you could try incorporate into your work week. As you can see I don't really play with eye-shadows or anything that needs time - all about quick cream products!
