So here is my Harvey Nichols women's wear interpretation.. take two! Wasn't really pleased with my first time shots but this time I'm really happy and I think they look more "polished" and professional. Michelle fell asleep while I was doing her make-up which was really weird to move a lifeless head!

The make-up was a smokey eye with 'bleached' eye brows as seen on Lara Stone for example!

Hello! Surprise update. This look was totally a spur of a moment must think of something for art or Mr. Green/Low will eat me alive. Not sure why Vermeer's painting popped into my head as I'm more into new modern contemporary art . Anyway I tried my best with the props but epically failed on with the minute earrings and head scarf malarkey! The make-up was fun and challenging since whenever you do a shoot, the make-up has to specifically suit photography such as the use of different techniques/products etc. Since cameras usually washes out colour I had to quite heavily apply contouring and foundation in layers but always using MAC's Fix+ to give a dewy effect and make the makeup sink in. This look definitely required lots of blending. Remember even if you think its blended, blend more! And you'll get more of an natural "airbrushed effect".

To achieve this particular look:

• lots of highlighters- powder and liquid. On places such as the chin, cheekbone area and cupids bow
• lightened the brows using concealer and foundation, brushed on using a spooly
• lips had a glossy effect but not a "fake shine" I used MAC's Tendertone in Sweet Tooth for a "juicy" effect
• contouring all over the face especially in the hollow of the cheekbones and the nose
• I would skip eyeliner/mascara if you really wanted to recreate this look.. I know I did it but I needed some definition
• use white eye-liner on your bottom waterline to give the appearance of wide awake eyes

I will admit I didn't know anything about the NARS history till a couple of weeks ago. But seriously, FRANCOIS NARS IS A LIVING GENIUS! And what I especially love about him is he still photographs all of his campaigns (it's been 15 years) and his reluctance to appear in the spotlight.

Marc Jacobs at his very best. This man is my idol... enough of Marc. This show got François out of runway retirement and boy did he impress with the 80's madness.

I always anticipate for MAC's Halloween face charts and 2009 was the first time they made a video recording the transformations.

Pat McGrath is my favourite makeup artist of all time. Why? She's the most in demand make-up guru in the world. Effortlessly creating flawless natural faces at Stella McCartney to Christian Dior's extravagant couture looks. No-one compares. She's in a league of her own.

Another renowned artist and this video again makes me want to pursue a career in make-up artistry.

The lovely Lisa Eldrige who you may recognise from Ten Years Younger, her work for Boots N07 and her spreads in Glamour :)

I'm on a roll! Just more random info for budding make-up artists. I personally don't find finding inspiration that hard but I think that's down to being an art student. Apart from the traditional routes of looking through fashion/editorial magazines for ideas. YouTube is a very useful source as in most cases you can physically see the artists applying the make-up and get a better view of the full finished results.

Me giving evils... meant to be a reindeer but look more like Bambi ha! Sixth form Christmas fancy dress :) (Did have horns on but was too moody to take more photos).

Sorry, not many photos this time and will watermark/tag later but I'm having cam problems (I'm a newbie!!) which meant the pics I had already had to be deleted... hmppph. I started the look at six and by twenty to seven was just about finished, so took me awhile to master. I had practised the night before but was a nightmare. The blending sucks and general face make-up + oily skin doesn't make a good canvas :(

Enough moaning... HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Shall hopefully have more updates in 2010 with my new cam x x x

HALLOWEEN 2009- VAMP STYLE

So here's my Halloween offering for 2009... VAMP STYLE!! Mainly inspired by Pixiwoo's Nicola vamp tutorial and maybe from True Blood? Though I don't see them rocking it this style! The blush is a bit "sloppily" done and the cupid's bow area is horrible.. I need to practice on lining lips more..

Random info... I've ordered some professional white face paint at last!! Can't wait to experiment.. the one I've bought is from Snazaroo and is water activated so I'm presuming similar to most theatrical stage makeup.

sorry the photo quality isn't as good this time.. I'm currently experimenting with the camera.

Done ages ago- just didn't upload as I got lazy with tagging. Again playing with false-lashes which I'm still trying to get the knack of. Can't remember what I used but I seem to be playing around with greys, blacks and I think a hint of reddy-purple.

HARVEY N SHOOT

Hey everyone, so finally an update from my last post where I showed you the behind the scenes (I've not been on my personal computers for ages as my sister came back and her computer is 10000x faster then mine)... well here's the results above! Michelle looks fierce as always and let me tell you that shoot was HARD!! Lots of hard work and difficulties especially with the location. The lighting was terrible that day but the show had to go on- which was only worsened with us almost getting lost, a horrible trek to the so called "waterfall"- which by the time we got there was a sludge fest and Michelle with a sprained ankle (yes she had to walk in them heels!!! Both of us didn't think of bringing flat shoes). Took loads of photographs that day but by the time I sorted them through I wasn't left with much... still got some great shots and learnt lots that day!
