THE POWER OF MAKEUP

Fee from Makeup Savvy just tweeted this and I had to show you guys.
Enjoy!

DRAG-ING IT

New Dogeared necklace? *whistles*

I didn't plan on doing a drag look but half way through 'playing' I decided too.....but even after all the crazy contouring etc I don't look drag enough! Next time maybe.....
ALSO it has been crazy hot and humid in Newcastle and it doesn't help that my bedroom currently has NO windows........ it's wrong that I'm sweating in my own room (sorry if it is TMI but it's currently hell) :(((((

L.F DOES A/W - NIGHT CALL

1920's vibe? I got lazy with covering brows so I just drew a fine shape above my existing eyebrows
KEY PRODUCTS USED:
L'OREAL COLOUR INFALLIBLE - ALL NIGHT BLUE
MAC MIXING MEDIUM
FINE GOLD GLITTER

Hey guys, so my A/W make-up series begins. I've wanted to show you guys L'oreal's colour infallible eye shadow in- all night blue eye shadow since I got it.
I've only used A.N.B eyeshadow in this look and using the colour again I pressed it onto the lips. Then using MAC's mixing medium I created a paste with fine gold glitter and pressed it into the inner corners of the eyes. REMEMBER it's not about being precise, I kind like some of the particles spread all over.

L.F RAMBLES - MOVED UP

I think this was my second day at my new 'home' and the funny arm position is to show my freshers pass which I'm still struggling to gain back my £55 worth of fun - everyone just eff's of to town anyway!
I HAD TO GET IT. It's around £17* but it's like a beetle on acid
More postcards to my collection because I'm sad....
I swear Newcastle WHSmith's is well better than the Leeds one. I've never seen them stock different Vogue's.. I think anyway. I'm kind of 'into' collecting just September Vogue's just because they have the most advertisements - which most people hate but I love. Not only does the Italian one have 3 magazines inside it was somehow £4 cheaper when I got to the till..... Obviously I didn't say anything haha
I forgot to bring my pillow, trainers and towels with me :(((( I bought these Vans Chukka boots to fill that comfy feet void

Hey guys, so I've officially moved to Newcastle! It's only been 5 days but It's almost like I've been here forever. Settled in and started my course on Monday. Already piled up with work to do but hopefully in the weekend I'll do more exploring besides stalking the city centre with my student discount card.

S.K'S MAKEOVER

BEFORE
 AFTER

Hey guys, my friend S.K just wanted a makeover and I decided to do something quite intense and different to what she'd usually wear- the before photo is a 'everyday' kind of look.
Lots of love for Chanel Illusion d'Ombre- Illusoire paired with an Illamasqua grey eye-shadow (name has rubbed off) on the outer corners.
Also anyone got some tips on doing a clients upper lash line when their eyes keeps twitching? The gaps on the lash line is bugging me!

L.F RAMBLES- CHANEL ILLUSOIRE AND MOVING AWAY

Chanel Illusion d'Ombre- Illusoire
My first ever Chanel purchase.... I feel so grown up haha. Anyway I HAD to get one of these babies after stalking Temptalia's review/swatches of these. I've heard a lot of people describe them as gels but the box says cream-powder... a firm cream texture? I was undecided between Illusoire and Eptant but I'm such a fan of grunge-y colours I went with Illusoire. These retail at £22.50 but I think they are really worth it as the quality is amazing and they are FOOLPROOF! Glide on and blend easily.... EASY. I actually got mine for £15.50 as Debenhams was having a 10% offer and my beauty club card had £5.00 on....SCORE.

Anyway after my little make-up rave, I thought I'd do a little ramble since I've always documented any important changes in my life.
As you probably know I'm off to university very soon (16th)! I don't think it's quite dawned on me that I'm moving away yet as I've still got loads of packing to do!
I'm kind of excited but also quite chilled about it....since either way I'm stuck with my flat mates for a year and course-wise 3 years!
I also don't think I share the same freshers mentality as most people as I'm not a massive-all-week-party-goer kind of girl. Yes. I said it. STUDENT SHAME! I don't know if any of you guys also feel the same but I feel spending  A LOT of money on alcohol is such a waste!
Course wise which is obviously the main reason I'm moving up North *coff* I'm really excited about because I think I'll get one step closer to realising my dreams of getting a 'proper' job in a field I love. I hope I don't fall out of love with my subject area (I hear most people do) but we'll have to see!
Make-up wise.... L.F MAKE-UP will still be going on. I obviously can't bring everything I have to my new home and I'll have to see how my living arrangements are regarding lighting etc.
I'm hoping to make better contacts during my time at uni' and hopefully collaborate and participate in more projects- I need some models to play with!
As always my 'real life' world takes more of a priority over my 'side hobby' so I'm going to *try* and maintain a new post every week but I don't know what my timetable will be like.
Also depending on how my studies goes I *might* actually try and go for a make-up counter job but again I'll have to see if I think I can balance the two.
Anyway I'm going to wrap this ramble up! My friend S.K (and a really lovely supporter of the work I do) is coming this Wednesday as model, so you will get to see her transformation this week :)

Hey guys, so on Tuesday (3/09/11) I did E.H's make-up for her first wedding reception. I did the second one yesterday but will have to wait till after her honeymoon to recieve them. I am REALLY pleased with the results and like most things I seem to 'nail' things on the day rather then the trials... Which is a good thing haha. So I had no dilemas or anything on the day. I really enjoyed the experience and can say I've ticked doing wedding make-up off my list now.
Congrats to the newlyweds!

PRACTICE

This is my mum (and willing volunteer), not the bride!
The left eye has nothing and the right has the re-worked wedding make-up on I'm doing on E.H minus the lashes and mascara... and I know the brow tail is a bit dodgy- I'm onto it!

Hey guys, I know it's kind of awkward me explaining something that you guys can't see, but I want you guys to see the final result rather then have spoiler snippets.
E.H (the bride) has large mono lids but with a really high deep brow bone socket if that make sense. She never wears much make-up so she was really persistent that it looked natural.
When I left the trial I was really happy but then when I looked at the photos at home I could pick out too many things out that I wasn't pleased with. For example:
  • Her eyes needed much more definition round the lash line- the eyes I did on her did make them look larger and wider but lacked definition so it looked a bit 'spacey'.
  •  I need to brush up on my brows skills! I seem to struggle with patchy areas of the brows and filling in a nice shape for people with 'bushy' brows.
  • ALSO I need to practice applying individual lashes. When I did them on E.H they looked too patchy so it was a good job we decided to go with a full strip as it took half the time and looked way better then the eye I tried individual lashes.
E.H is actually having two wedding ceremonies so I'll be doing her make-up twice (3rd and 6th of September). I know I have confidence issues anyway but I'm glad I've got time to just nail certain areas I don't feel as comfortable in.
Anyway thought I'd post this just to say you never stop learning and always practice!

TRYING TO GET BACK ON TRACK

I have been ADDICTED to The Kills ever since I saw them play. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but when I saw them I only knew a couple of songs. Now they are all I listen to now (sorry family).
I went shopping with my friend E.S today which I really enjoyed as always. I used to see her 5 days a week, now it's almost once everyone month :( Anyway I think I O.D on the bronzer and peach blush today......opps.
This was meant to be today's weekly make-up look from me! I'M REALLY SORRY. If I feel really 'blah' about the outcome I rather not post anything up (DSLR photos= you see every single pore). I was playing around with coloured brows (teal), winged eyeliner and a orange-y lips with clumpy lashes. I WILL REDO THIS NEXT WEEK.
HAUL!
I got these Mavala duo nail polishes from Boots for about £5.00 (on sale). I have these kind of shades already  but I want to see if I get on with their formulas. Aquamarine has these really cool shots of green-blue shimmers running through and Marron Glace the same but with a lilac-silver :)
LOVE NO 6 SUPER NATURAL A/W 2011
I will keep collecting issues of LOVE as long as they have awesome editorials and f' loads of advertisements-  I love collecting fashion campaigns because once they are gone, they're gone!
Illamasqua nail varnish- Bacterium
When I was at the flagship store this colour on the nail colour wheel caught my eye immediately. It's so COOL. This taupe-brown with crazy blue shimmers shot through. I think Illamasqua nail polishes have a good reputation for being long lasting, so fingers crossed! I got this from ASOS which is currently reduced to around £7.00

Other news:
  • I've bought tickets to see Blink-182 next year! Even though I don't like them the same way like I used to, I still want to see the band I was SO mega obsessed about 6 years ago. I still know all the words to pretty much all of their songs *cringe*
  • I might be doing someones wedding make-up. I am so nervous, I've never done wedding make-up before. I'm trying to view it as just another job, but I can feel the pressure of not f'in up already. The trial is next Tuesday- which I will take photos of, if things all go well.
  • I *want* Plumful lipstick by M.A.C, but I can't justify buying it.......unheard of in L.F world.
