WEDDING BELLE

Beautiful Fiona!
KEY PRODUCTS:
SLEEK MAKEUP POUT POLISH - ELECTRO PEACH
BECCA BROW POWDER - ASH
MAC BRONZING POWDER - MATTE BRONZE
MAC POWDER BLUSH - SPRINGSHEEN
ILLAMASQUA SKIN BASE FOUNDATION

Hey guys, this is a quick post of my friend Fiona who has been on my blog a few times. It's really nice to catch up again and whilst on our girly day out in Manchester, I become the make-up 'expert' for the girls at Selfridges. Fiona is particularly interested in contouring and after browsing the halls we found MAC's bronzing powder in matte bronze to be a really good product for contouring - I'm pleasantly surprised too but there's no real orange-ness to it. A nice product for both bronzing and contouring if you are looking for a multi-use product.
Also a mention on Illamasqua's skin base, I introduced Fiona to the counter and we had a really pleasant experience (Trafford Centre). Fiona got matched up whilst she was learning about contouring and her skin afterwards was so FLAWLESS and her skin is quite problematic (eczema) - so a really good test. I used the foundation on the day of the wedding ceremony and I was really impressed with the application/finish/look.
I'm quite tempted to invest in these foundations for my kit. I can't speak for oily or combination skin but for dry to normal skin types, this foundation is worth trying!

BRIDESMAIDS

This is my friend Fiona who was one of the bridesmaids. Fiona was actually my former gym buddy and seriously one of sweetest and sincere girl I've ever met - she'll get along with anyone and she's always really bubbly. I've done her make-up before but it was a really rushed job and I didn't feel happy to upload it. With Fiona my main focus was actually her skin as she had dry red patches on parts of her face and I had to cover them without looking mask-like or too cakey.
The eye make-up is a bit more 'done' then a typical wedding theme, but I think it sits on the 'glam line' without looking inappropriate. I don't have before photos but I'm really happy with her outcome as I feel like it was a 'transformation' whilst still looking like herself.
This was a really impromptu job but the brief was very natural and minimalistic. The eye makeup is literally eyeliner set with eyeshadow and inner shimmer in the tear duct area. The skin I used a light veil of foundation, highlighted the skin, soft blusher and filled in the brows. For both of the girls I used a tinted balm which adds colour and moisture.

Hey guys, so no major jobs for 2 months and now they all come at once. Typical, but not complaining! I'm more confident with doing bridal related make-up now as I used to feel 1000x more pressure just because the client will be photographed and judged all day and if I did something 'off'' it'll be my fault.... but I'm fine now. Keep to classic styles, softer tones, defined features, thin layers and you should have beautiful clients who still look like themselves.

WEDDING 3/06/12

Hey guys, a really impromptu job where my mum agreed to do the make-up for a friend till she found out I was coming home so I got given the job. No trial but the brief was 'natural' which is what I prefer with weddings.
The client never wears any make-up so this was a fun transformation and she said it was better than when she had it professionally done for her wedding in China!
Oh her skin was also SUPER silky soft. My mum reckons it's because she doesn't use any make-up on her skin at all. Oh skin envy - I have this with everyone I work with.
My mum was responsible for the hair and nails. Team L.F!

Hey guys, so on Tuesday (3/09/11) I did E.H's make-up for her first wedding reception. I did the second one yesterday but will have to wait till after her honeymoon to recieve them. I am REALLY pleased with the results and like most things I seem to 'nail' things on the day rather then the trials... Which is a good thing haha. So I had no dilemas or anything on the day. I really enjoyed the experience and can say I've ticked doing wedding make-up off my list now.
Congrats to the newlyweds!

PRACTICE

This is my mum (and willing volunteer), not the bride!
The left eye has nothing and the right has the re-worked wedding make-up on I'm doing on E.H minus the lashes and mascara... and I know the brow tail is a bit dodgy- I'm onto it!

Hey guys, I know it's kind of awkward me explaining something that you guys can't see, but I want you guys to see the final result rather then have spoiler snippets.
E.H (the bride) has large mono lids but with a really high deep brow bone socket if that make sense. She never wears much make-up so she was really persistent that it looked natural.
When I left the trial I was really happy but then when I looked at the photos at home I could pick out too many things out that I wasn't pleased with. For example:
  • Her eyes needed much more definition round the lash line- the eyes I did on her did make them look larger and wider but lacked definition so it looked a bit 'spacey'.
  •  I need to brush up on my brows skills! I seem to struggle with patchy areas of the brows and filling in a nice shape for people with 'bushy' brows.
  • ALSO I need to practice applying individual lashes. When I did them on E.H they looked too patchy so it was a good job we decided to go with a full strip as it took half the time and looked way better then the eye I tried individual lashes.
E.H is actually having two wedding ceremonies so I'll be doing her make-up twice (3rd and 6th of September). I know I have confidence issues anyway but I'm glad I've got time to just nail certain areas I don't feel as comfortable in.
Anyway thought I'd post this just to say you never stop learning and always practice!
