TUMBLEWEED

I've succumbed to the world of Tumblr, but don't despair (a bit dramatic I know) I'm not ditching blogger! TUMBLEWEED isn't exactly a 'blog'. I'm not actually going to upload/post my own content, I'm just going to be re blogging things I like or inspiring to me. So a bit like a online collage blog! Plus with Tumblr I don't have to worry about sources etc.
I've named it TUMBLEWEED (play on Tumblr name) as I didn't want it to be just focusing on make-up or art and design. It's like a visual diary so it will be have a mix of references including  film, music etc. BUT hopefully inspiring nevertheless!
I've been posting on TUMBLEWEED for awhile now so there's a couple of pages you guys can already sift through.
So if you want to, check out TUMBLEWEED! And perhaps follow as I often update once a day!

HAULIN' 8

Thought I'd show you a most recent photo of myself. I look 'OK' considering I had an all night bender the day before (celebrated F.A.D being over)
 ZARA- £4.99
I really like the illustrations and the mid length sleeve detail
FRENCH ELLE- 20P (ALL MONEY GOES TO CHARITY)
I've picked up a few issues awhile ago and then whilst passing my colleges library recently they had even more back issues (30+) for sale. So like the massive hoarder that I am, I spent a good while picking out which issues to get (good make-up/fashion articles or editorials).
Beth is actually one of my tutors but I wasn't aware she made jewelry until I stumbled onto her site. I'm still on my hand made crafting kick and when I saw that she made hand stamped inscription rings for £40.00, I thought it was pretty reasonable and unlike costume jewelry a worthwhile investment. You can decide on what word/s you want on the ring. I decided on having the word 'ring' on my ring (I still find it amusing).
I've been wearing my ring non-stop and I'm considering getting a few more. And I believe they are sterling silver and hand made from scratch too.
LET'S SUPPORT INDIE WORKING ARTISTS!
You can read my full post here.
M.A.C- Rocker Chick “Look in a Box”- £30.50 (airport exclusive)
I asked my mum to get me this as it's such a good deal! I'll replicate the look above using the products soon. To see/read what products are inside click here.
THE KILLS- 31ST OF MAY AT LEEDS MET
I think this is the most impulsive buy I've ever made lol. I was checking out their page on Facebook and I saw that they were going to be playing in Leeds.... further investigation showed there were still tickets left. BAM. I have two tickets! I'm going with Elly Steer and I'm really excited. Still a gig newbie, this will be my second one ever!

BERLIN- 24/01/10 - 28/01/10

I have a proper excuse for my absence! In case you had no idea I went to Berlin with college for 4 days and it was pretty much left up to us to do our own thing. I was never really interested in graffiti before but after the trip I feel so inspired to create some kick-ass work! Lame lame lame I know. I will be back Berlin!
Anyway back to L.F MAKE-UP..... What do you guys want? I'm thinking of postponing my video posts till I figure out how to use my 'proper' camera, so for now stick with photos.
Bare with me guys, please!

L.F RAMBLES - TRIP TO NEWCASTLE

The only semi-decent shot taken during the trip. This shot reminds me of London.
Think I forgot to mention this but we had a reading week at college which was a week to go places/catch up on work. So me and A.J decided on a trip to Newcastle (Manchester was our initial plan).
View from BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, floor 4?
Cool shot! Ruined by my shakiness :(
Yay! I love finding things that says BIJOUX! Not sure what kind-of place that was but Pussy Galore was next to it..hmm.
HAUL!
The temp' tattoos were from BALTIC. Do I need them? NO. Do I even like graffiti-style art? NO. Why did I buy them?! Because I felt the need to buy something from all the art galleries.. SHHH. I might use them during Halloween. They cost me £3.95 and the art is by Mr Dane. Woop.
The Barry M polish is that cracking one 'every ones' been talking about. I tried it yesterday but I wasn't feeling it. I'll give it another go soon.
Ring is from the Laing Art Gallery. I know its not to every ones taste, but its different! A.J picked this design out too. £9.90, pricey for me!
Highlight for me hahah! During our last few hours in Newcastle, I made A.J go into Fenwicks, which is basically a Selfridges. Anyway passed the M.A.C counter and spotted the postcards. MINE.
Nails for the week (I only paint them once a week as I work Friday and Saturday and they get wrecked!). The cut is from me attempting to cut a carrot in half...useless.
Essie- Mink Muffs
Most gormless face ever. After work so sorry if I look like a state. First time I tried on M.A.C's Revenge Is Sweet lipglass.
Nice... but I doubt I would of bought it if it didn't have Maleficent on it. Sad. I know.
Video (HD, woo) of me and A.J summarising our trip. Watch if your extremly bored and my voice is horrible!!

Anyway, to sum up everything. I really like Newcastle! The city centre is basically a more spaced out version of Leeds. And I feel its more public friendly with most landmarks/galleries all within a walkable distance (from centre) - 10 mins max? I think i'll be returning again soon.... Whilst my sister still studies there (free lodging!!!).

L.C.A PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS FROM 17/08/10 - 08/10/10

Class 3 A/B
 Me and I.S
 L.H
In chronological order.

Please note: these are only the 'highlights' of my time so far. None of the above work are 'finished' pieces but only my exploration in use of materials, concept etc.

The fundamental point we have been working to is that there is no such thing as a 'final' piece but rather every composition is a working development and is subject to change.

L.F RAMBLES - NEWCASTLE AND LIFE

Literally just painted so excuse the sloppiness! Its M.A.C's Mean and Green, 3 layers and looks better with a dark base underneath!

Hey guys, today will be a rambles blog post as I feel like, erm, rambling.
My mum has been bugging me forever about entering the M.U.S.E/Illamasqua/Mizz Worthy contest (Google if unsure what I'm about) but the thing is I hate forcing myself to do something creative. Its always the mess-about-no-intention make-up that turns out semi decent then the must-do-something-that-will-win-a-prize PLUS make-up after college... NO. NO.
Anyway today is technically the last day I have time for it and lo and behold I created a atrocity. Forget the special guest they wanted I created an unwanted guest (couldn't think of a better pun... as you can tell). And really trust me. It was horrible. Don't think my mum will be pleased I've not entered but you can't force creativity- or that's what I'm telling myself. Lets hope they'll be another contest in the near future!!!!
Also today I had my crit' at college where I had to choose the specialist area I wanted to pursue.I know a couple of weeks ago it was textiles-fashion vs g.i.d (graphics, illustration and digital media), but it slowly turned into g.i.d vs fine art. DECISIONS. I really really really hate making 'life changing' decisions as this is the only time I am ridiculously indecisive. I'm decisive with creative decisions just not 'life' ones. WAH. To add to this I'm not incredibly good at explaining myself. Its all in my head but my mouth just splutters:
 "Errrrmmmm."
"Yeah."
"I don't know."
Useless. And I had to 'defend' my decisions with two tutors!!!! A bit of a nightmare situation as I spluttered them exact words and in short the discussion revolved around the fact I couldn't decide. I liked both.
Anyway the end result is: I chose G.I.D. We have a 3 week 'trial' period in which you can move if it really doesn't suit you. But I think G.I.D is ultimately my real gut instinct. I'm hoping to explore fashion illustration but I'm open to anything- yes I know, people who did art with me at a-level will the flabbergasted with the fact I'm moving beyond biro portraits. Its true, I've moved on. Bring on the different practices... except painting.. I HATE PAINTING!!!
Lastly, I'm off to Newcastle tomorrow with A.J. It will be a art related two day trip and I'm really excited! Not sure what the art scene is like there but I will take lots of photos I can assure you. Also the art college photos will be uploaded soon. In fact I'm going to do it now!

L.F RAMBLES - IN ART COLLEGE

L.F's most latest work (these are just experiments)!

Hey guys just at college right now. I was going to upload a photo update for you guys but I have no patience to wait for blogger (too slow). I am thinking of uploading art college photos on this blog and my art blog but they will feature different work, so keep an eye out if you are interested. Anyway from one of my previous posts I told you I would be specialising soon.. it's in two weeks!! Still in two minds. So going to have to do some further research.. gah.
ALSO I have reached 16 followers (one is private)! Thank-you so much! I really value all of you and I'd like to think the followers I do have are following me for the right reasons ( you enjoy my work!!!). 4 more followers and my small giveaway will start.
Lastly, my friend A.J (fellow F.A.D student) has started a blog that's "about his time at art college as it goes on, the work produced, people who make it, strange anecdotes all written with poor grammar but funny none the less."
A.J wrote as that as you can probably tell. But seriously he is really witty and way more funnier then I could ever be so IF you want, check out his self titled blog, Blog.
P.S I will most likely return to doing make-up looks in 2 weeks time, as I have 'a reading week' AKA half-term and hopefully my horrible cold sore will go (so rank).

FASHION AND ART

This is why I LOVE blogging and the whole blogging community. Where else would you find/see/read about these little gems?

Encapsulating all the dark glamour, divine decadence and hedonistic joy of the roaring Twenties, Gareth Pugh's A/W 2010 collection is a stylised, silver and black Art Deco fantasy projected at breakneck speed into the twenty-first century.

ART COLLEGE UPDATE AND A-LEVEL RESULTS

Excuse the messy hair. I was playing around with the web-cam feature on my new laptop- hurrah!

Hey guys! I think I'll start with the most exciting news...... my A-level results:
Media - A
Textiles - A
Art - A*
I am beyond HAPPY!!! I can't believe I managed to get an A in media ( I really thought I'd get a B- not that I would be complaining). The hard work really paid off- thank-you media teachers!!!!
Textiles, I am really happy about too because in the actual exam I got a C. So to still pull off an A I am really stoked.
Lastly A* in art. WOW, I feel honoured because my year 13 art pads were not the greatest- quantity and quality wise.
Anyway onto art college. I've only been for 3 days so I can't make too much of a judgement but I do like it. We have a 3 week introduction period so atm we are just doing a bit of everything to build up skills.
I got put into the same group of A.J (the guy I mentioned in my previous post) so coincidence or what!! And friends wise.... its looking good. So far I'm in this small group and I like the fact we have a mix of personalities, age, interests....its all dandy!
So yeah everything is going to plan and I am comforted with the reassurance my grades will hopefully mean uni's will like me next year.

Talk soon x x x

L.F RAMBLES- BACK TO BLACK

LEEDS COLLEGE OF ART- I am doing a UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design (only a year long!)

Hey guys, just a ramble from me to make up (excuse the pun) for the loss of make-up related posts that should be on here. Fingers crossed I get a new computer this weekend because the one I'm using is shockingly 'shite' (slow with a capital SSSS- and wow with the alliterations going on).

Anyway what's my dramatic title post about? I START COLLEGE ON MONDAY!!!! And........ A-LEVEL RESULTS ON THURSDAY!!! Wow time has flown past and yet again this summer I've accomplished nothing!!! Wait....I'm pretty sure I told myself I would write a CV at the beginning of summer. Fail.

I am really nervous and excited about college. I went to enrol yesterday and it was weird to think the people who were also there could be my potential class mates. I think I'm more nervous about the prospect of making new friends- or lack of. Since I'm not exactly loud, outlandish or bubbly. Whilst I'm on about friends- me and my close friend who is also going seem to have this on going paranoia we will leave each other lol. Which makes me laugh because I am positive he will bugger off and leave me first and he thinks I'd do vice versa to him... not!!! Apparently 250 students are also doing the course so I guess I could break the ice with "Sooooo, you like art then?"

Also results day is this Thursday. 2 years of hard work (DAMN YOU TEXTILES!!!) comes down to grades on a piece of paper *sigh*! The nerves haven't kicked in too much yet but I am not in as harsh of a position as my other friends who are mostly dependent on the grades they get to get into uni'. I never like to predict the grades I may get, but I didn't do too bad in AS so hopefully I've evened out my points score. I am particularly nervous about the grades for textiles (exam was hard- duh like all exams ahaha) and media because its always been the subject I like the most but do the worst in!!!

Not sure when I'll update you guys next. Fingers crossed I get a new comp' so I can upload photos and get back to schedule with my make-up posts. I will definitely update you guys with college and results on Thursday- hopefully positive about both.

Talk soon x x x
