L.F'S 2010 FAVOURITE PRODUCTS

I don't think I've mentioned this on my blog before, but Stephane Marais Beauty Flash finally arrived at my college. So naturally I went crazy with scanning all of my favourite looks. I will get round to recreating some of them soon.

MY FAVOURITES:

Perfect. I *really* can't fault this foundation.

I own 6 of these eye shadows (white, yellow, orange, pink, red and purple- lazy with names sorry!!) and they are so good. CRAZY pigmentation, blend well, good amount (4.g) and MATTE!!! The only one I have a hard time with is Poison Plum (purple) but I'm working on it.

Best £2.99 you will ever spend. Drugstore can be good.

I know I know. How hard can it be to find a good face powder? Well for me....hard! This is the only powder I will use on any clients/shoot. Period. Not chalky, finely milled and sets make-up beautifully. NOTE this doesn't add any coverage so be aware of this. For me I just want a powder to set the face without any more coverage.

I have 4 of these now, which in L.F world means I really like it!! Small and tapered it does everything with its super soft bristles.

I've used this before and fast track 2 years and an Elle magazine promotion. I'm hook, line, and sinker for this as lip-balm-does-jack-all-for-my-chapped-lips-but-this-really-really-does-work-and-makes-them-baby-soft-no-joking. Now breath.

I bought 6 of the large universal palette and they've saved up so much space in my cluttered vanity space-ma bob. A bit of an investment but very travel friendly (especially for make-up gigs!!!).

This actually works. No gimmicks. The real deal.

RED CHERRY LASHES
I love Ardell lashes but these are made by the same people, exactly the same styles and half, HALF the price.

Loose shadows/glitters NEED this. In fact anything but matte shadows. HG worthy. Staple product for kit!

Hey guys, so there's my definitive list of my favourite products of 2010. If its up there, it means I really do love and use these products. I know not all the products I've featured on my blog a whole lot but trust me I've tested them all out thoroughly and I approve. Lots.

2010 has been amazing for L.F MAKE-UP so thank-you thank-you for supporting me. I will try to make this year even better and continue with things I've started off (eras series).

P.S I am not sponsored by love-makeup, I just buy a lot from them as they have everything! Never had any problems personally so safe hands.

ME, MYSELF AND MAKEUP'S MONOCHROMATIC CONTEST ENTRY

The lashes are really gross! Try and ignore!!!

Hey guys! Its Christmas so what better time to enter a make-up contest haha.
Lalia's contest was to create a monochromatic look and obviously I chose the colour pink.

NARS TORRID AND DESIRE BLUSH

Also random fact: Lalia is actually responsible for me creating L.F MAKE-UP as I created this blog solely to enter a contest she had running where you had to create look inspired by a shoe. I've unfortunately deleted my entry but that was the official first post on this blog. And sad face for Lalia's blog being hacked so almost all her posts have been deleted.

Wish me luck and happy holidays again!

L.F DOES A/W - GOLD MODE

THE HAUL BEFORE CHRISTMAS
LIZ EARLE'S CLEANSE AND POLISH
They've opened a new store in Leeds and naturally the temptation to not try out THAT cleanser was too much. I've bought my mum one for Christmas too. High hopes. I shall update you with how I feel soon!
M.A.C PAINT POTS - SOFT OCHRE AND QUITE NATURAL (£12.50 EACH)
Don't think I've ever told you guys but paint pots are probably one of favourite products by M.A.C ever. Wouldn't say they are a must have product but they are great if you like layering and works a treat on oily lids. Bonus love for the cute gift bag.

OILATUM - NATURAL REPAIR FACE CREAM (£7.49)
I BLAME PIXIWOO. Utter impulse buy. I'm a bit of a secret skincare junkie. I literally have a box full of skin care items ready to be used. Again high hopes for this and I particularly like this as its free from fragrances, preservatives and emulsifiers.

BACK TO MAKE-UP
Note I am ill! Lovely cold. Nice.
Dewy look to combat winter. KA-POW!
Camera didn't really pick up all the sparkle glory :(

So another holiday look! And its SUPER simple and easy!
  1. Prep eye with appropriate bases (if needed) and apply a light gold eyeshadow to the top lid only going slightly above the crease. Now blend blend blend!
  2. Take a good amount gold glitter liner and apply a 'blob' to the back of your hand (clean) and using your finger pat the liner on top of the eyeshadow in thin layers. Repeat layering till desired effect and don't worry about precision but try keep both eyes even and 'fade' out the edges.
  3. Using liquid liner draw a thin line and extend the wing. I kept mine quite straight and just a subtle flick.
  4. Fill brows. I used a lighter shade then usual.
  5. For the face I used an illuminated lotion first and then a dewy foundation as I wanted more of a glow.
  6. Buff on bronzer and I used cream blusher/highlighters to add to the dewiness. I didn't set my face with any powder but this is optional!
  7. Mascara and lip gloss... DONE!

KEY PRODUCTS:
M.AC FACE AND BODY FOUNDATION - C2
COLLECTION 2000 GLAM CRYSTALS - FUNK (GOLD)
BARRY M LIP GLOSS - 2
COLLECTION 2000 FAST STROKE EYE-LINER- BLACK
MAYBELLINE DREAMMOUSE BLUSH- 04
SUPERDRUG VITAMIN ILLUMINATING MOISTURE CREAM
VITAL RADIANCE EYE BLENDING MOUSE SHADOW - PEACH LIGHT (USED TO HIGHLIGHT FACE)
E.L.F BLUSH AND BRONZING POWDER - BRONZED SIDE

Hope you guys can see the difference with my skin in comparison to my usual preferred matte look. And give it a go if you want to! I used a lot of affordable products :)

Phew. Long list. That's why I hardly ever write up what I use!!

Hey guys, I'm finally back! I'm currently on a 3 week Christmas break so I *should* be back doing lots of fun stuff for you guys.
I've been planning on doing some holiday inspired make-up ever since I saw Lisa Eldrige's work for Vogue UK's December issue. But college has been hectic and I find it much easier updating my art blog as I can just upload photos and add a minor description!
These looks I've created have a slight inkling reference to the 1940's but I've updated it by using a glitter liner on top of the liquid liner (I recommend doing this so you get a solid black base).
Look 1 is the core look in this short series so from this starting point I just slowly added and tweaked bits such as changing the lip colours. Look 3 and 4, I think would be perfect for parties without looking too OTT pantomime extra.
So if you are stuck for holiday make-up ideas hopefully I've inspired you :)

Talking about being inspired this video is just magical!

REINDEER RETURNS

I let A.J paint around the lower eyelash area as his eyes were twitching like crazy!
Smile?
I was a Christmas pudding, will show you the costume at some point
 Me in the 'reindeer' costume.
Its actually an official Charmin bear costume without the 'fat' suit. My mum D.I.Y'd off the logo with the print patch.
Ta-da!
The make-up was inspired by my 2009 version of a reindeer and I prefer this version so much more. With A.J's I focused more on blurring out the edges and lots of blending to keep everything looking more realistic (2009 one was just way too harsh).
The black nose tip isn't perfect but overall I'm quite happy with my attempt.

P.S we were off to our colleges Christmas party. It didn't go quite according to plan as I OD on the alcohol BIG TIME and I had the worst night of my life (pretty much passed out in the toilets/couldn't walk/puking non stop/manager at the club thought I'd been spiked).
So just a reminder to you all to drink responsibly (sure you all do anyway) and I'm currently put off for life now (I really mean it).

Thank-you A.J for looking after me!!!

PORTFOLIO BUILDING- BEHIND THE SCENES 4/12/2010

 Lips- M.A.C extended play
Without flash so more true to life.
Hair up!
The suitcase is just SOME of the kit I bring to every shoot. Tiny bit lighter then usual as I knew what the shoot would entail.

Hey guys! So yesterday I had a shoot with my best friend and aspiring model Michelle. You will have seen her before (archive posts) as she usually models for me (I force her).

She pretty much asked me out of the blue on Thursday night to do her make-up for the shoot and we both swayed with a 1940's theme. As you can see I didn't really follow suit with the plans and I ended up doing a more old school Hollywood-esque make-up.

I think my favourite part of the look was the brows as Michelle's brows are 'naturally' really thin and rounded.

I will update you with photos from the shoot (photographer was Natascha) soon and I only brought my camera to the shoot as I knew Michelle wouldn't mind me harassing her!!
