Hey guys, I thought I'd do a more wearable look this week, a take on the 'classic' beauty look. I actually got inspired to do this because my best friend is coming back to Leeds for a week and we said we'd go for dinner.
In my personal life, this is my *ideal* formal occasion make-up. Classic Hollywood-esque make-up. Everything is flawless, with defined but soft smokey eyes with shimmer in the inner tear duct area finished with a statement red lip.
With these types of make-up attention to detail is your core focus and every element has to be preened and perfected.
With the eyes I would go for more cool toned matte browns to keep things looking 'natural' (mimic natural shadow contours) with the inner tear duct shimmer adding a 'pop' to your eyes. Add black eyeliner and mascara/false lashes for definition, and spend time on your lower lashes to really define and fan them out. For the brows I would focus on the shape but keep them soft to avoid them being too much of a focal point.
For the skin I'd go for a matte finish and focus on concealing and brightening areas by using highlighting and contouring powders. A tip for subtle highlighting of the skin is to use lighter tone matte (no shimmer) eye shadow/face powder as this will blend into the skin without any 'artificial glow'.
I do tend to favour matte lips but using gloss is much more forgiving and flattering especially if your lips tend to dry out. For long lasting lips work in thin layers and use a lip liner if needed. Hope you guys try it out! This look is pretty universally flattering as it's just about enhancing features and is great for any formal evenings.
